Meet Edit · Far Beyond Nutrition

I Thought I Knew How to Eat Healthy. Then I Turned 40.

I didn’t start Far Beyond Nutrition because healthy eating had always come easily to me. I started because the body I thought I understood suddenly seemed to be playing by a different set of rules.

That experience changed the way I looked at nutrition - and eventually changed the direction of my work.

My Story

At 40, “Healthy” Suddenly Didn’t Feel So Simple.

I had always believed that if I ate well and took care of myself, I would know what to do when something felt off.

Then I reached my 40s.

Constipation became a struggle. Bloating showed up when I wasn’t expecting it. Foods and routines that had once felt completely normal no longer seemed to work the same way. I just felt off - and I couldn’t understand why.

So I did what many health-conscious women do. I tried to fix it.

I paid closer attention to what I ate. I experimented. I read more. I tried different approaches, hoping the next change would finally be the one that made everything click.

But the more I searched, the noisier the answers became.

Everywhere I looked, someone had a different food to eliminate, supplement to take or rule I was supposedly missing.

And underneath all of that advice was the same frustrating question: Why could I be doing so many “healthy” things and still not feel like myself?

The Turning Point

I Stopped Looking for the Next “Fix” and Started Asking Better Questions.

Eventually, I realized I didn’t need more wellness noise. I needed to understand what the evidence could actually tell me - and where the evidence stopped.

That sent me much deeper into nutrition science. I began studying the research around digestive health, the gut microbiome, fiber and food diversity, bowel function, blood sugar, metabolic health, stress, sleep and the changing nutritional landscape of midlife. I also explored functional and integrative medicine perspectives because I wanted to understand how practitioners were thinking about the whole person rather than one symptom in isolation.

But something became increasingly important to me along the way: a compelling theory is not the same thing as strong evidence.

Research into gastrointestinal symptoms during perimenopause and menopause is growing, but important gaps remain. That uncertainty changed my approach. Instead of promising that every digestive symptom has one hormonal “root cause,” I learned to look at the broader picture, stay curious and be careful about what nutrition can - and cannot - claim.

The more I learned, the less interested I became in miracle answers - and the more interested I became in useful ones.
What Changed for Me

Nutrition Became Less About Rules and More About Context.

I began to see food differently. Not as a list of “good” and “bad” choices, but as one part of a much larger picture.

01 · EVIDENCE

Start with what we actually know.

I look for credible research and established nutrition principles first, while staying honest about areas where science is still evolving.

02 · CONTEXT

Look beyond a single food.

Digestion does not happen in a vacuum. Overall diet, fiber, hydration, movement, stress, sleep, routines, medications and health conditions can all matter.

03 · INDIVIDUALITY

Use the person, not the trend, as the starting point.

A strategy can sound perfect on paper and still be impractical for the woman expected to follow it. Sustainable nutrition has to work in real life.

My Credential

AFPA Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner

Professional nutrition education supporting my food-first, whole-person approach.

Training + Continuing Education

I Wanted More Than Personal Experience.

My own experience may have started the questions, but personal experience alone is not enough to guide someone else.

I pursued professional education and earned my credential as an AFPA Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner. My education gave me a stronger foundation for evaluating nutrition, lifestyle and wellness strategies while recognizing the boundaries of non-medical nutrition practice.

I continue to read research and follow developments in nutrition, digestive health and perimenopause because evidence changes. Good guidance should be willing to change with it.

That distinction matters to me: I am a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner. I do not present myself as a physician, registered dietitian or medical provider, and I do not diagnose or treat disease.

Why Far Beyond Nutrition Exists

I Don’t Want Other Women Spending Years Blaming Themselves.

One of the hardest parts of struggling with digestion in midlife is how quickly food can become personal.

You start wondering whether you lack discipline. Whether you are eating the wrong thing. Whether you need to cut out one more food, buy one more supplement or somehow try harder.

I know how exhausting that cycle can become.

Far Beyond Nutrition grew from a simple conviction: women deserve better than fear-based food rules and promises that outrun the science.

I want to help women understand their options sooner, ask better questions and make thoughtful nutrition changes without losing the pleasure, flexibility and normalcy of eating.

I cannot promise a symptom-free body. I can promise an approach built around curiosity, evidence, practicality and respect for the limits of my scope.

What You Can Expect Here

A Calmer, More Grounded Approach to Nutrition After 40.

No fear-based nutrition. You will not be told that ordinary foods are “toxic” simply to make a program sound more urgent.
No unnecessary restriction.Removing foods has consequences. Restriction should have a reason, a plan and an appropriate scope.
No pretending certainty exists where it doesn’t.When research is preliminary, mixed or incomplete, I want you to know that.
No one-size-fits-all perfection.Your preferences, culture, schedule, budget and actual life belong in the conversation.

A Note on Scope

Nutrition Support Should Know Where Its Role Ends.

Digestive symptoms can have many causes. Perimenopause should never be used to explain away new, severe, persistent or worsening symptoms that deserve medical evaluation.

Far Beyond Nutrition provides nutrition education and wellness support. My services do not diagnose, treat or cure disease and do not replace individualized medical care from a physician, registered dietitian or other appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
